Gasketed plate heat exchanger for Industrial oil cooler

As oil coolers, plate heat exchangers dissipate the waste heat from hydraulic and lubricating oil circuits - with oil-resistant materials and gaskets.

Bolted plate packs with elastomer gaskets between the plates. The number of plates can be adjusted afterwards and the unit can be fully disassembled.

Suitable for a wide pressure and temperature range, depending on the gasket selected. The first choice whenever cleaning, inspection or capacity adjustment is required. The FKM gaskets are matched to the medium of this application.

Easy to service: plates and gaskets can be replaced individually and the pack remains expandable.

Typical operating data and sizing

Oil coolers dissipate waste heat from hydraulic power packs, gearboxes and lubricating oil circuits. A typical case: hydraulic oil HLP 46 is cooled from 60 to 45 degrees Celsius against cooling water entering at 30 degrees Celsius.

Oil transfers heat far less readily than water: the higher viscosity lowers the overall heat transfer coefficient, so more area and a plate corrugation with intense turbulence are needed on the oil side. Excessively low flow velocities must be avoided, otherwise the oil-side flow turns laminar.

The oil-side pressure drop is usually the limiting design criterion - it determines plate count and corrugation depth more than the pure heat balance.

Why a gasketed unit

FKM gaskets resist mineral oils and elevated temperatures, making them the first choice for oil circuits; NBR is the economical alternative for moderate temperatures.

Cooling water from towers or wells carries hardness and particles: the water-side cleanability of the disassemblable unit secures performance for years. Plates and gaskets can be replaced individually, keeping the unit repairable in the field.
