What demands do oils place on plate heat exchangers?

Oils have higher viscosity than water, which reduces heat transfer and increases pressure drop. For highly viscous oils, plates with larger channels or special flow geometries are selected.

Which gasket materials are suitable for oil applications?

NBR gaskets are the standard choice for mineral oils. For synthetic oils or esters, FPM/Viton gaskets are required as they resist a broader range of media.

Which design is used for industrial oil cooling?

Gasketed or welded designs depending on operating pressure and medium. Gasketed units with oil-resistant gaskets stay disassemblable and easy to service.

How is fouling minimised in oil coolers?

Sufficiently high flow velocity in the channels and regular CIP cleaning with a suitable solvent prevent deposits. Gasketed designs additionally allow mechanical plate cleaning.
